SortLock tutorial

Create one Lock, choose the Base Sort Rule, add product Pins, and review the activity log when SortLock reconciles the Target Order.

Create a Lock

Pick the collection and Base Sort Rule. SortLock snapshots the original sort order and switches the collection to manual.

Step 2

Add Pins

Choose product positions for the fixed slots. Positions are 1-based, and occupied positions swap predictably.

Step 3

Review activity

Watch reconcile events, conflicts, dormant pins, and next scheduled refresh times in the embedded app.

Important behavior

Best-selling refreshes hourly

SortLock does not read orders. Shopify computes best-selling order, and SortLock refreshes ranking drift through an hourly sweep with per-shop jitter.

Structure updates are webhook driven

Product and collection changes are debounced and usually reconcile in about 2 minutes. Bulk edits use a 5-minute max wait.

Uninstall honesty

If you uninstall while collections are locked, Shopify removes API access before SortLock can restore the original sort order. Those collections stay manually sorted at the last applied order.

  1. Before uninstalling, open SortLock and use Unlock on each active Lock.
  2. If you already uninstalled, open the collection in Shopify Admin.
  3. Set the collection sort order back to your preferred Shopify option.
  4. If you reinstall within 30 days, SortLock can show a Recovery Snapshot for explicit review.
